Fully managed IT means an external provider takes primary responsibility for the agreed technology environment. Co-managed IT means the provider works alongside an internal IT person or team.
Fully managed IT
This model is usually appropriate when the business does not maintain an internal IT department and wants one accountable provider to manage support, Microsoft 365, devices, cybersecurity, backup, networks and technology planning.
Co-managed IT
Co-managed IT is designed for organisations that already have capable internal IT but need extra coverage, specialist expertise or operational capacity.
Common co-managed areas include senior escalation, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, backups, infrastructure projects, documentation and staff leave coverage.
Which model should you choose?
Choose based on who should own day-to-day support, who has authority over systems, where specialist skills are missing and how much internal capacity exists.
MWITS can support either model
